Community Wall of Life

  • Building Bridges
  • Retired Senior Volunteer Program

The Community Wall of Life is a concept created by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Building Bridges. The goal is for children's art and the ways they see their community to become part of an ever expanding Community Wall of Life. The first display was "Art from the Heart," an already existing display provided by Battered Women's Alternative to Bay View Federal Bank for the month of April during Violence Prevention Month. The second display was created by children from 14 different cities at the Concord Elks Club for the RSVP Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. The entire Mount Diablo Unified School District partipated by creating "Building Bridges for Peace" posters which are currently on display in more than 40 schools. Anyone can create a new extension of the Community Wall of Life by displaying children's drawings and poetry on the walls of any public building.
